Crane Truck Hire with Operator in Castellón, Valencia and across Spain
Grúas y Transportes MAVI provides crane trucks — also known as lorry loader cranes or HIAB-type cranes — to load, transport and unload heavy or bulky items in a single operation. The hydraulic crane is mounted on the truck itself, so you don't need to book a separate mobile crane or have lifting equipment at the delivery point. We work from Castellón across Spain, always with a specialist operator, and with 24-hour assistance available 365 days a year.

What is a crane truck and what is it used for?
A crane truck is a lorry with a hydraulic crane mounted on its chassis, usually right behind the cab, with an articulated or telescopic boom. It can lift a load onto its own deck, drive it to site and set it down exactly where it is needed. In the UK it is often called a HIAB; the generic names are lorry loader, lorry-mounted crane and truck-mounted crane.
It is the most efficient option when transport and lifting are part of the same job: delivering machinery, precast concrete, pallets, site cabins, tanks or containers and placing them in position without extra equipment.
Crane truck services for lifting, placing and transport
• Loading and unloading of heavy goods at sites, warehouses and factories.
• Delivery and placing of precast concrete elements, beams and slabs.
• Lifting of machinery, generators and HVAC units, including onto roofs.
• Placing of site cabins, modular units and containers.
• Assembly and dismantling support for steel structures.
• Moving tanks, silos, poles and other bulky items.
How to choose the right crane truck for your load
The right truck depends on three things. Tell us all three and we will recommend the equipment:
Lifting capacity
What matters is not only the weight of the load but the weight at the distance where it has to be set down. Crane capacity is measured as a load moment (tonne-metres): the further the load is from the truck, the less weight the boom can handle.

Boom reach
Depending on where the load has to go — over a wall, onto a floor slab, inside a building — you need more or less horizontal and vertical reach. We have cranes with different reaches and, when needed, a jib extension to reach further.
Access and ground conditions
The space available for the truck and its stabilisers, the type of ground and any overhead obstacles such as power lines determine where the truck can be positioned. A photo of the unloading point helps a lot.
Loads we lift and deliver most often
Our crane trucks work for construction companies, industry, logistics operators and private customers. The loads we handle most often are:
• Precast concrete: beams, hollow-core slabs, manholes, kerbs and walls.
• Reinforcing steel, steel beams and structural sections.
• Industrial machinery, compressors, generators and transformers.
• Site cabins, modular buildings and storage containers.
• Tanks, silos, poles and street furniture.
• Pallets, big bags, coils and building materials.
Crane truck or mobile crane: which one do you need?
A crane truck carries the load and lifts it, so it loads, transports and unloads in one operation. A mobile crane only lifts: it needs a separate truck to bring the load and is normally used for much heavier weights or greater heights. For most deliveries and placements on site, a crane truck is faster and more economical.
Safe, planned lifting operations
Every lift is planned before the truck leaves. We assess the weight, the centre of gravity, the reach needed and the conditions at the unloading point to choose the right equipment and accessories. All our work complies with health and safety regulations and is carried out with:
• Trained crane operators with proven experience.
• Certified slings, chains and lifting accessories supplied by us.
• Signage and protection of the work area during the lift.
• A prior lifting plan for complex loads or tight spaces.

Crane truck hire: frequently asked questions
What is a crane truck (HIAB) and what is it used for?
It is a lorry with a hydraulic crane mounted on its chassis that loads, transports and unloads heavy or bulky items in one service — machinery, precast concrete, containers, pallets or tanks — without a separate crane or lifting equipment at the destination.
How much does it cost to hire a crane truck?
The price depends on the equipment needed (capacity and reach), how long the job takes and the distance to the site. We give a fixed quote per job or per day; tell us what you need to move and we will send you a no-obligation price.
What is the difference between a crane truck and a mobile crane?
A crane truck has the crane mounted on the transport vehicle, so it loads, transports and unloads in one operation. A mobile crane only lifts: it needs a separate truck for transport and is used for much heavier weights and greater heights.
How much weight can your crane truck lift?
It depends on the equipment and, above all, on the distance at which the load has to be set down: the longer the reach, the lower the permitted weight. Tell us the weight, the dimensions and where the load has to go, and we will confirm the right truck.
Does the hire include an operator?
Yes. All our crane trucks are hired with a specialist operator. We also supply the certified slings, chains and lifting accessories needed for the job.
Do you work outside Castellón?
Yes. We are based in Castellón but work throughout Spain. For long journeys or special loads we plan the route and arrange any permits required.
Can I hire a crane truck for an emergency?
Yes. We have a 24-hour assistance service, 365 days a year. For emergencies, call +34 600 227 832.
Do you prepare a lifting plan for complex loads?
Yes. For unusual loads or sites with limited space, power lines or uneven ground, we prepare a lifting plan in advance with working radii, loads per position and anchor points.
